Bliss Mobil builds premium expedition vehicles to a level of engineering standardisation that is rare in what is otherwise a deeply bespoke market. That standard is central to their identity and their ability to support customers in remote locations. I contributed to maintaining and advancing that standard across the exterior, interior, and water systems, improving each production run while accommodating custom customer requirements and ensuring every unit was fully documented for lifetime repairability.

Context
Bliss Mobil designs and manufactures premium expedition vehicles: fully self-sufficient, off-road capable living modules built on heavy-duty truck platforms. What makes them distinctive in their market is the level of standardisation they have achieved for a product that is, in almost every other respect, deeply bespoke. Each unit is a complex integration of structural, interior, plumbing, and electrical systems, and the fact that these systems are engineered and documented to a consistent standard is what allows Bliss Mobil to stand behind their product when a customer is parked somewhere extremely remote and something needs fixing.
Challenge
My role was to continue and build on the standardisation work Bliss Mobil had already established. The challenge was not starting from scratch but holding a high bar across every new production run, finding improvements each time while maintaining the integrity of the system as a whole. At the same time, some customers had requests that required adapting the design of units that were already making maximum use of available space and materials. Accommodating those without compromising the standard was a recurring design problem.
