Cutr is a Dutch digital wood fabrication platform that connects customers with local woodworkers with CNC capabilities. I joined to help make the platform work better for both customers and production partners. The role combined continuous improvement efforts of the platfom, hands-on design engineering and operational oversight across a wide range of customer projects.

Context

CUTR connects customers with local woodworkers with CNC capabilities, primarily for the fabrication of parts for interior projects that make use of various types of wooden panels. Customers ranged from professional product developers to independent makers working on first prototypes, each needing different levels of design and engineering support.

Challenge

Getting a design from a customer's sketchbook to a well-made, cost-effective CNC part required significant support at the design and engineering level, particularly around translating designs into producible and assemblable parts. At the same time, internal processes and the platform UX had friction points that were slowing down order management and delivery.

Contribution

Within the operations team, I managed the full customer journey from quote submission to delivery, setting the standard
for how projects were scoped, reviewed, and coordinated.

  • Reviewed customer files for DFM issues, made geometry and nesting optimisations, and coordinated with makers and suppliers to ensure consistent delivery quality.

  • Designed components for customer projects end to end, from initial brief through geometry development to production-ready files.

  • Identified friction points in the platform's internal order and design review workflow and worked with the product team to address them
